flowers, leaves and shadow

shot these in my front yard. i don't know the name of this plant but i like its flowers. the shadow on the cement is from the same plant.

The colour is very nice and I like the idea of sun and shade. The only problem, if you don't mind me saying, is that the sunlight seems very harsh. I wonder, since it's in your front yard, if a morning or evening shot might be more flattering?
