I haven't seen hen and chicks since before my grandmother died. She didn't plant them in shoes, though. I don't think she could have, if she thought the shoes were still usable. My dad was a "change of life" baby, born just weeks after the stock market crashed in 1929.
But she did bring the plants for us a couple of times when she visited.
Different! Plants in shoes ... something not done over here. I like the processing on this shot too.
Hi Quiet and Mad. Thanks for the nice words. Hen and chicks, what a nice name. It was a damp rainy day when I took this shot. The wet brought out the colours. I saw this and thought what a neat idea. Recycled work boots - jimmy

I have those in my garden (not my shoes). A very hardy plant.
