Default the great flood of 2010

yesterday we had torrential rain!! some places got as much as 100mm
roads are still closed around here. I consoled myself that at least it wasn't snow.
today I got out and managed to take some pictures. I also bought myself some rubber boots

this is my 'thinking spot' now underwater. the texture was added for fun.

this is normally a small stream home to a small flock of ducks:

further away from the lake I found this. Based on the dead trees I suspect it's a flood plain. Still I've never seen it like this:

Yeah, it was quite a deluge on Friday. Didn't see that much flooding right here in Halifax but windy! Whew! People were losing shingles all over the place. Must have been pretty close to hurricane speed winds.

We had a place near us get 360mm of rain in 18 hours a few weeks ago ... biggest fall in a 100 years of keeping record apparently.

EDIT: It was 24 hrs ...and Bambi ... it was Mt Tamborine and it's neighbouring area .... http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...08/2812676.htm

Woah Bamib, - that looks like a swamp now! That's all from rain, not from melting snow?

Besides: The picture with the texture I like - the treatment works well.

    thanks everyone!

wow, 360 mm?? I better send my uncle an e-mail to make sure all is okay!

Part of the problem is that the ground is still frozen a few inches under the surface so the water has no where to go. coupled with melting snow and yikes. The lake I walk around had about 3 inches of water on top of the ice in places.

We're supposed to get another 60 mm, today, high winds and there's storm surge warnings. It would be a good day to go the beach for some pictures. I will see how my day goes- I have to go ride and there's this gold medal hockey game this afternoon!!!

wow.... that's a lotta rain! 4" is enough, thank you... anyplace that gets 14" in 18 hours is not, in my opinion, fit for human habitation!
