This is a discussion on Bleak Winter II within the Show your photo (Color) - Landscape & Nature (flowers, mountains, storms etc.) forums, part of the Photography & Fine art photography category; Was not real sure about this one. It is from our little fogged in frosty spell about two weeks ago....
If bleak is what you're going for it does to a large extent. the sky is woefully empty though I do like the blue-steel color of the river. The broken ice recalls days of grinding force and give the shot some tension.
works for me Have you tried it in B&W?
I like this one JAS.

A painter takes their vision and makes it a reality. A photographer takes reality and makes it their vision.
I think I know you are saying here JAS. I want to like it ... and, for the most part I do. I find I desperately want to see more in the foreground ... it just seems to need that extra something. But it is bleak ... so maybe that's just me!
