About LinkBacksYou ARE right. It IS a Flame Tree after all but I don't think it's an Illawarra Flame Tree. They seem to have a much bigger, flower that isn't a bell. Perhaps it is the same but it's yet to burst open? Perhaps it's a different variety? Not sure.

Are you sure? Flame Trees were my first guess but none of the photos I looked at looked like them at all. Their flowers were much more open. But your description sounds right.

She'd know. They are found in rainforest type areas like mt Tambourine!nope not sure at all. I may send the photo to my aunt Janet. She's an avid gardener on Mt. Tamborine.
