I'd like to share a series of scanned slides photographed by my Grandfather in the late 50's to mid 60's when he was working in what is now Zimbabwe.
As a child I remember watching these slides fascinated by this place, a long way away(and even then a long time ago) full of wild animals and stunning scenery. I think it was these slide shows that introduced me to photography and inspired me too. Sadly my Grandfather mostly gave up photography on his return to England and Australia disheartened by the general lack of interest in his photos as the family "Slide Show" as a form of entertainment was replaced by television.
Now more than 40 years later, the Internet seems the perfect place to share his photos.
Scanned from slides which were in various states of deterioration. Colour correction, dust spot removal and other processing in LR2.0
Oh and before anyone assumes the worst about my grandfather he is in extremely good health for a man in his 80s and my mother has been reading some of the flickr comments to him when the speak on the phone.
Kibu Peak Kilimanjaro
Golden Lioness
Snake
Camping Scene
I will post more to this thread as I get the best of the remaining scans cleaned up and ready to post.
