"You have to milk the cow quite a lot, and get plenty of milk to get a little cheese." Henri Cartier-Bresson from The Decisive Moment.
When I first saw this nothing actually struck me. I think my mind was expecting a larger something and the small ship at first seemed a disappointment.
But within 20 seconds or so, the more I just looked at it and took in the colour, the features (bird, lighthouse, ship, water, sky), the more I liked it.
There's even something in the water mid frame. Small pod of dolphins or something?
Hey MA . . same as myself. Took it and when I processed it I said "meh". Then I cropped it a bit and the more I looked at it the more I liked it. It was just as the sun was thinking of rising and I liked the lights on the ship and lighthouse. And the line is a pile of old cormorants and assorted ducks that are hanging about the area lately. A small crab boat went by also and I think it's a combination of those and a small wave curling as it comes in. I had to go to the RAW file and check at first myself. There has been a whale in the harbour for a bit and I thought it might be that, but no cigar.
This would make for a great postcard.
