I saw the same thing in Puerto Vallarta, and I thought they are glued.
Oh My God ! It's amazing.
When I first saw them i thought..."Be a prick for once, go knock one over" but I couldn't bring myself to do it. When I was moving for a better shot, I actually heard one go down as the tide was coming in. I don't know for sure but I think "Yoda" has a hand in it....

They are somehow very peaceful and calming when in you are in the midst of them.

maybe its a BC thing, as i got this snapshot on my honeymoon in 05 on the island (at least i think it was on the island - it was in BC for sure!) there was a whole section along a river we were camping near of these stacked stones.
