The light on the Hawaiian Islands is gorgeous, but tends to be harsh and less suitable for photography when the weather is sunny and hot, and people tend to want to be unclothed and spend time on the beaches sunburning. We were fortunate to be in Maui for a period when 11 out of 12 days were overcast, foggy and/or raining, so I had lots of opportunities with excellent conditions for photography. My wife didn't quite see it that way, however. Some examples here and many more on my http://www.flickr.com/photos/56219672@N00/.
1. Hillside Fog

4. Beach Umbrella (from our beach day, Makena State Park Big Beach)
5. Flora (Kula Botanical Garden)
6. Did I mention it rained?
