    Default Amaryllis

I've been experimenting with extension tubes since I don't have a macro lens.

This amaryllis decided to bloom in our kitchen on the first day of spring. Hopefully a sign of good things to come outside as well!

I just love flowers. You nailed the focus and composition.
Spring is here (northern hemisphere); time to go wild with flower shots.

BTW Jason, how long is your extension tube? I had the crazy idea of building a long one myself with PVC. What could be the maximum?

Lovely shot Jason. Very cleverly focused. At first I thought it was quite a large DOF for using extension tube, but now I am wondering if that is in fact the case. Nicely done anyway.

Thanks guys. ewaizel, it is a 35mm extension tube (my poor man's macro lens!). I have no idea what the max would be, but I have used various combinations of my 35mm, 20mm and 12mm tubes.

Very well done Jason. Love that tight dof focusing on the anthers/filaments.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!
