    I agree. And I don't mind the blown out bits- I think they add drama to the shot

    Thanks Matt, the reason I ask is that I too am turning to the dark side and experimenting with HDR. I hope I can achieve results such as this.

    You can Matt. Once you've got the HDR to this point open up one of the original shots and place it under the HDR. Then add a Layer Mask to the HDR layer and gently paint with a black brush to erase the blown out bits and show the original shot through where you've painted. It's very simple and effective.
