Default My Wife's NZ Mountain Shots

This is Mt Ruapehu (pronounced 'Roo A Pay Who' ), one of NZ's most active volcano's and the most popular skiing destination in the North Island. I've hiked around above the upper ski lifts on this mountain while it was puffing merrily away above.

Mt Ngauruhoe (pronounced 'Now Ru Hoe E' ) used to be the most active volcano in NZ for many years. Since the late 60's, or maybe early 70's it's been rather quiet.

Behind Ngauruhoe, you can see Mt Tongariro (pronounced 'Tong Ga Rear O' ), which did a Mt Saint Helens many years ago and blew it's top clean off.

    pushy, pushy!

Those mountains are darned impressive. Also the moth; it reminds me of our Luna Moths which are also a shade of green like that and get to the same size.

Big fan of the Tawhai water falls... nice! That's one colourful looking moth and he looks huge.
