These flowers were covered in frost this morning, but when the first rays of the sun came over the trees, the frost didn't stand a chance. It's whitlow grass, the very first thing to bloom in the spring.

the flowers are 1 inch or less tall and the closed blossoms are 3-4mm. Early insects love 'em.
