This is a discussion on First Pictures 2011 - Set 1 within the Show your photo (Color) - Landscape & Nature (flowers, mountains, storms etc.) forums, part of the Photography & Fine art photography category; Really like that last landscape shot, (only minus the bright orange dot on right bank would be nice)....

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

Thanks Marko. Shot 3 was my initial favourite, however I think that Donna, Iggy and HBG have convinced me that the landscape version (minus the orange survey tape) might be the better one.

Hopefully, this next comment doesn't sound condescending or anything like that as that is definitely NOT what I'm trying to say. Your comment just triggered me to jump on a soapbox for a second

I've recently realized that my photography is just that, MY photography. Just because others like image A vs image B doesn't mean A is better. It only means they like it more than B. If we, as your peers, are doing "our job" right then we are helping you find your way down the path. Don't let our views become yours. And maybe that's all that's happened here is that you've decided you prefer A vs B as well.

Again, just felt like I wanted to point that out. I hope you don't feel like I'm picking on you or anything.

    Cheers!

No probem, I understand you completely Iggy. I thought of exactly what you said, however I didn't change my my mind simply because you and the others thought it was the better one, but rather taking your comments and the others in mind I came to my own conclusion on slightly preferring the landscape version. This doesn't mean that I now dislike the portrait version but rather concluded that the landscape one might be slightly more suited for this picture.

Awesome! And again, this was more an opportunity for me to get on my soapbox for what I hope is everyone's benefit. I've been making a lot of connections in various things I'm doing lately and just want to share
