The town of Nimbin is mostly known for it's rather open marijuana culture. It even has a Museum of Marijuana! We drove through it twice last weekend and I struggled NOT to see people without dreadlocks, men with ponytails, or tie dyed clothing! Things are mellow in Nimbin.
However, Nimbin also sits near the rim of an ancient volcanic caldera and a remnant of such is the Nimbin Rocks.
The Nimbin Rocks are volcanic extrusions of rhyolite left over from the Mount Warning Tweed Volcano that erupted around 20 million years ago in what is now northern New South Wales, Australia.
