Dew-ing it right?

#1 is killer IMO! Can you educate me on gear, settings and execution of this shot?

First of all, thank you all for the kind words

Nikon D5000
Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro lens
tripod (ummm .. if you must know: Feisol + Feisol Head)
ISO 200
f 9
1/250
no flash

took the same shot with several settings, this on turned out the best. also tried it at the same ISO with

f4.5 - 1/800 .... very shallow DOF and
f16 - 1/60 ... nice DOF, but not a good bokeh
