    Default Vista

So I'm out yesterday with my pal Terry and we are doing what we usually do... get in the car at first light, grab a Timmy's, pick a direction and go...no plans we never know where we will end up. We usually try to stay off the main roads and highways and just get lost on the sideroads. So we turn off onto a side road and climb a bit only to discover this incredible vista waiting at the top...I had my breath taken away and was pretty dumbstruck and speechless when we stumbled on it...literally.

Am posting it large because it just doesn't seem right to post small photo of such an amazing vista!

I can definitely see why you were in such awe Casil. Amazing beauty captured so well. Nice job.

(only thing is, the bright green well pump keeps dragging my eye down there)
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

I like the first one better; besides, it's a typical Alberta piece of hardware .... where abouts did you take this shot? Looks like somewhere along the Highwood River highway ....

I am a bit partial to the first as well Matt. thought it might be a bit of an alternative focal point other than the vista....never too bad to post the occasional alternative idea though.

I took this somewhere on one of the side roads to get to the Highwood highway to Longview (40?). We kind of paralleled highway 22 on the gravel roads...I think I could get there again if prompted....let me know and we will go sometime! there was all kinds of neat stuff there...wildflowers too!

Very nice indeed without the pump.
I know all about them, we are sitting on one of the largest gas deposits in Ontario and these things are everywhere.

Lovely scene casil No Kidding you stopped - wow!
I like the shot without the pump, but it's too small compared to the first and the colour (which is amazing in shot 1) is not matched at all in shot 2...how come?

I wasn't sure I liked the colour in the first one so I thought while I was monkeying around with crops I might as well monkey around with the colour as well.
To me eye there seems to be a bit of a colour cast on the first one that I can't get rid of...I think it might actually be the reflection of the sky seeing as I can't get rid of it...or am I seeing something that is not there?
What do you think? Am I seeing something not there?
I would post it larger but I have to keep within the limit and I didn't want to repost the same image on flickr so I had to reduce it.

The colour in the first one is the best for me. The pump does stick out but I'd rather you 'shop it out or some such rather than cropping. Cropping takes away too much of that wonderful foreground.

As for the colour cast? No, I'm not seeing it. Maybe you are seeing what I'm seeing in that it almost looks foggy in parts but I suspect it's just moisture in the air. In any event, it looks totally natural and I would just leave it.
