Affinity Photo a mac rival to Photoshop?

It would appear the answer is yes!
The company behind this new software is building a software suite of the sorts Adobe offers. So far their Affinity Designer has been voted best app for mac and by all accounts is already equal to or better than Adobe's Illustrator.
Affinity Photo is still a beta application but looks impressive. Basically the company is squarely aiming at sticking it to Adobe and their antiquated codebase and exorbitant pricing. By comparison, Affinity Designer is only US$50 and that's not a subscription. Updates are free. Not sure what price Affinity Photo will be yet but I suspect similar. The company doesn't rule out subscription based purchases in the future, but have no plans for such at this time.

So I download both programs today. And I'm impressed with both, with the little time I've had to really look at them. First impressions though... fast (they promised it was). Being an Adobe user for so many years now (started before Adobe was born actually) I am a bit lost finding my way around but that's due to the familiarity I have with Adobe's products so I'm biased and habitualised to them.

Competition is a good thing, especially when somebody has an almost monopoly like Adobe.
