Dissertation research HELP! 'Photography as Art'

Hello there!
I'm a photography degree student currently working on my dissertation.
I've done a fair bit of research on my dissertation already, but am currently struggling finding more books and essays related to my subject.
I'm writing about the photograph and how it can be viewed/identified as art.
I hope to identify how this is done, and what makes certain photographs art.
Any books or essays related to this subject would be extremely useful!

I have just found your post. I'm new to this forum but I did study photography for five years (a while ago now) lol but try to find a book called "On Photography" by Susan Sontag It's pretty hard going but very very interesting. Good luck.
