"You have to milk the cow quite a lot, and get plenty of milk to get a little cheese." Henri Cartier-Bresson from The Decisive Moment.
Hi Kat. Wow that's a very intense portrait. Well done. Cheer up, things will get better - jimmy

MA, I saw the lights reflected in the lens glass and my first thought was of seed beads. But I imagine those would interfere with getting any kind of photo.
I like your other photo, too, especially the way the light and shadow is off center. The picture on the tin immediately triggered a poem I hadn't thought of in years:
"I never saw a purple cow;
I never hope to see one;
but I can tell you anyhow;
I'd rather see than be one!"
The author eventually hated it, because it got 'overplayed', and a number of people did their own versions of it.

Ain't Google wonderful?
Bambi ... it IS a heavy lens to hold! My hand is always under it while shooting and holding the tripod mount (which I flip to the top side) when walking.
QuietOne ... those 'seed beads' are actually the reflections of the LED light I was using. It has 3x 3watt Cree LEDs in a triangle pattern in the head which is what you are seeing. The different colours come from refraction as it passes through the glass elements inside the lens I guess.
Always nice when an image invokes something from one's memory
Hey Mad. Wow that is quite the lens. Super quality. Only wish I had one. In photography size does matter - jimmy
