May 2012 Photography Assignment - Wide open aperture

Hi members!

It's May already - wow.
Anyone got ideas for the regular and level 2 assignments.

I'll throw 2 ideas out and feel free to support them or freely suggest other ideas. The ideas with the most support in the next 24 hours become this month's assignments.

both of those ideas work for me!

Nice ideas. Another possible suggestion? - high and/or low perspective.

As for a possible theme, how about bodyscapes (with or without nudity)

Hi members!

So the regular assignment this month is wide open aperture.
This means photographing with the larger apertures available to your lenses (F-1.8, F-2, F2.8 etc) to achieve a shallower depth of field.

OK, I will start. Shot at f/2.8. These are 41 Italian hand carved wood figurines called "Anri'. I bought them last weekend for $1200 and I am selling them to hopefully double my money. I have them stuck in a cubby hole in my dining room, all lined up nice and neat.

Since I tend to generally tend to think in terms of maximum possible resolution and depth of field, this assignment is challenging, but very worthwhile for me. I spent the afternoon experimenting and this tree/shrub blossom image was the only one I liked. I hope to get more keepers as the month progresses. Canon XT, 50mm lens wide open at f1.8

So um, yeah, my kit lens is F3.5- 5.6 and it's the only lens I have, so I have to get REALLY close and creative.

I am enjoying all the posts in the thread so far.

This assignment is very timely for me, as I have been waiting for my new "nifty fifty" to arrive in the mail. It arrived today, and I was straight onto the assignment. This is taken at f1.4. Expect a few more as I keep playing with the new toy.
