Same subjects, off camera flash

Ha ha.. I can use the SB600 of camera now!!! So yesterday I thought I'd fool around with it..I have no clue what I am doing as far as setting wise. You can see some shadows although with only the two flashes going I may end up with some..more fooling around needed (after a purchase of lots of batteries!)

Anyone know a good book for that?

Those are very sweet, Kat! Joe McNally uses the Nikon system and his Kelby training courses are worth the $25 it costs per month. You can quit after one month but they do have a whole lot of photoshop workshops on there as well.

thanks. I will have to check it out. Cause reading the manuals is only getting me so far..and I really need something to explain it a bit further and better..if that makes sense.

Are you using one flash on camera to trigger the other? Or something in the hotshoe?

I was using the flash in the camera and the camera to trigger the one that was about 2 feet away from them in a slightly different angle. Don't ask me what I had them at..I had them at so many settings..lol. That is why I'd like to get more info. I understand the +/- but not how and when to do it.

Hi Kat,

I'm trying to learn off camera lighting as well, the strobist is a good resource, and their are loads of free tutorials splattered over the web.

As I try out stuff, I'm try and make quick diagrams of my set-ups so I can remember what worked for me and what didn't.
