Talking to a photographer friend of mine the other day, and apparently the latest fashion is a "Trash the Dress" session, which is shot sometimes weeks after the wedding. The idea is to not really care if the dress is ruined as it does not need to be worn to the reception etc. I presume the log roll and some of the beach shots were from these sessions.
My wife was mortified by the thought. Personally I think it makes no more sense to have thousands of dollars worth of dress sitting in the cupboard than potentially ruining it to get some great photos.

I'm hoping that my sister in law will be interested in that. I missed her wedding last year, suppose to shoot the wedding for them (it was a little affair).

I would love to make it up with some fab shots!

I found some unique and interesting but for the most part found them standard fair as far as wedding photos go. Nice work just nothing that stands out really from an artistic perspective, I was expecting some outstanding unique photos and I saw good photography but lacks ingenuity and creativeness.

lol. that's what my mother did when she was divorced. Only she never wore it, just cut it with scissors.

which is really too bad because I would have liked to have worn it. Mine is packed away waiting for the 80's to come back!!! but it didn't cost thousands of dollars either. I must admit I don't get the money being spent on a wedding these days!

Besides the obvious artistic and minimum technical requirements (tecnique, composition, colours, creativity etc) what we ultimately looked for was (a) the simple "wow factor" - would the bride/couple frame a large format version of this photo and display it in their living-room? would it dazzle their quests? (b) the "wedding factor" - is this a great photo or a great wedding photo? Unfortunately this meant that some incredible photographs did not "make the cut", because they "could have been anywhere", not necessarily at a wedding... In short, we looked for the type of image that would make you want to do it all over again, even if you were already married.

That may be why you don't see the shots you were expecting Acadie.

Nice photos. I noted quite a few that were framed askew (intentional crooked orientation- I don't know the proper term if there is one). I like when "rules" are broken

Weird as I am I liked the one with the pigs, groom wearing a toque and holding a pitchfork.

I am not big on wedding photography but if I think about it I will post the few who do weddings that really have a knack for the style I like. I don't have them bookmarked but will try and keep it in mind. I just find their are some wedding photographers who are the top of the crop ( in my lowly opinion lol) and although I have an aversion to wedding photos I do know when I like them and the ones I recall are well done, unique and traditional all at the same time. It is just these photos are just too basic of wedding photos for my taste.

I'd love to see them! I've found, with all contests, that most of the best never enter them and for that reason alone..you never see the best. Make sense at all?

If you find the links please do post..I love seeing wedding photos..I lost most of mine and have very few..I think that may be why.
