    Default Reverence

A powerful word and not taken lightly. This Native American touched me so much. He is a Pow Wow dancer who had just finished getting his regalia on - took a moment to himself - thanking Mother Earth - then set forth to dance his dance. I was in the right place at the right time to capture this poignant photo.

I like the pensive feel here and of course the richly coloured garb.

    Very nice image. Well done.

The last one I attended, one of the dancers and I engaged in an ever so brief moment in which I simply gave him a thumbs up in appreciation and in reverent response he said to me, “It’s powerful, isn’t it?”

    I couldn’t have agreed more.

I have literally hundreds of images from pow wows and although the colors of the regalia is a sight to see, the ones I enjoy most are the ones in a subdued duotone that remind me more of a distant period in time.

thanks to all for the input!!

what i love most about the pow wow is the emotion displayed. the faces and bodies - the movement of the celebration. the spirituality.
