My 17 year old son was in a variety show at his high school last night. I took a ton of pictures. this one was the result of frigging with the settings. I kinda like it.

I kind of like it also bambi Would you mind telling me a bit about it?
see I knew I shouldn't post when I'm tired!
So the picture: yes he was playing the drums. He loves to play them as evident in this shot. all the young boys (17 years old) had a blast and the crowd was loving them.
So for the setting of the picture, I was off stage, and set my Sony Cybershot to B&W and no flash. the result is a long shutter speed. this is why the picture came out this way. I didnt do much enhancing on Picassa, just a little with the contrast.
glad that you like it too!
Interesting, nice shot.

Man! We need to get marko to do a podcast on " frigging with the settings!"
Oh we don't need a podcast, I can tell you how to do it!
all you do is push diff't buttons and take lots of pictures, then look at them after. about 95% do not work and you delete and hope no one notices.
after that it's all good.
now the TRICK is remembering which ones you used to get which effect.
Very funny Bambi, I had to laugh when I read that.
I like this photo too. Its gritty and mysterious, the mystery holds your attention long enough to try and figure out what he is doing.
You can get some interesting results using slow shutter speeds with flash. The flash properly exposes the subject and stops motion, then the shutter stays open for the blur or you can set the flash to fire at the end of the exposure.
nice frigging job!
