He even has the haircut to match the era of aircraft. If it wasn't for the flag, this shot could have been taken in 40's-50s . Feel free to correct me on era of the aircraft (or the flag for that matter).

The era's right - he's in Parrothead, which is a P-40N. His hair - you can't tell from this angle, but he wears it in a DA. Not exactly military, and I don't know how many years it had been since I'd seen that style.
