    That's what he was doing. There's a semicircular rubber wedge at the end of the pole he's holding. I haven't seen it before.

    I haven't seen that either. What happened to using the other leg? Nice line of the path framed by the autumnal trees.

    Surely you'd think the leg option is much more efficient. Perhaps he has knee issues?

    I'm not sure. He was older than I first thought, so the knees are a possibility. Or maybe it's just a new thing. The wedge looked like something you'd just buy. I don't know if it came on the pole or not.

    Well, with a river next to the path... Actually, that was what the poling first reminded me of.
