Meet Kathryn who I met near downtown Dallas. I shot her at 1/250 @ f4, ISO100, 24mm.

I liked the shot and it is one of my favorites from the day. It was a sunny day so I moved her into open shade. Lots of things worked for me in this image. I liked the way she was sitting. I thought it was both casual and provocative. The colors all seemed to work together. The building, bricks, her clothes, hair, all came together here. The focus puts the attention on her.

What didn't work was the sploch of bright light in the right side of the frame. I think that distracts the eye from Kathryn. Also, that person over her right shoulder in the left side of the frame is a little distracting.

If I had this shot to do over I probably couldn't have done anything about the light and the other person in the frame. My experience is that when shooting on the street you need to adapt to what is offered to you photographically. However, I would have added a little pop of flash to make Kathryn really stand out.

Nice find! Pretty 'model', great pose, well done for approaching her - in this age of politically-correct paranoia most men wouldn't have the guts.

You've already picked up on two minor niggles, the background man and bright car, however I would also add that her face isn't quite in focus either which is a great shame, it would have been a cracker of a shot otherwise.

Thanks! I think my focus point was on her shoulder or something. So it was a near miss. On the other hand, I could post a few more of these "face just out of focus" shots and call it an artistic! LoL

i like the shot and overall comp! Gorgeous leggy model!
The distractions in this case do not even bother me. "Street distractions" for me are seriously different than let's say a a poorly framed nature shot.
My only niggle is what thoughton picked up on - the eyes. They should be tack sharp.

I also don't think the two background issues (car and man) distract from the model. Her legs actually draw my focus off her face because of the softness of her face and sharpness on her leg.

I would certainly consider removing the man in post. Shame about the focus being slightly off, as the model andl pose are great.

I like the pose as well and she's definitely very pretty. The focus point seems to be most definitely on her shoulder which makes sense if you have auto-focus set to "all points" as it will pick the closest object to the lens to focus on. Centre spot focus is your friend here to let you choose the focus point.

Agree with all comments so far. Little soft on the facial features, BUT, beautiful subject, with a great natural pose. Very nicely done Dan.
