Feeling A Bit Bluesy

Happened to be in the right place at the right time walking around town and the production manager of a local theater introduced me to a visiting blues singer and I was invited to shoot the show. Was a very enjoyable night with some great photography fun and awesome music. Starting to really enjoy shooting concerts, they are a pretty cool challenge.

Yup fun set - nice variety
Check out the lighting in shot 2 though - that would be my magic time. Not sure you were able to move around tho.

Very cool set indeed! Some really good shots in here.

I really like shot 3. If it were mine I'd black out everything to the right of his back (removing that part of the piano etc there) and then I'd crop in closer.

Thanks for the compliments. Bambi, I really have no secrets. Not using any special gear, actually pretty basic stuff, and I just pretty much set the camera to shutter priority with the ISO at 1600 and go to town. Because of limited space and moving around constantly I am not even using a tripod.

Marko, I'm curious now, what would you have done differently with the lighting. For that shot I was at the corner of the stage and getting to the other side entails leaving the theater and going back in the other entrance. Getting dead center in the front is not an option, front row is just about on the stage.

I'll try that out MA, think you are right.
