Marko, I'm curious now, what would you have done differently with the lighting. For that shot I was at the corner of the stage and getting to the other side entails leaving the theater and going back in the other entrance. Getting dead center in the front is not an option, front row is just about on the stage.
When movement is restricted...you are limited. In this case i might have just tried to move my position to the left or right or up or down just a wee bit (if possible) to get cleaner portraits without distractions (microphone cutting through the hair of the hair dude - and microphone cutting through the jaw of the bald dude). Sometimes though, not even this is possible...

Very nice, small club stage lighting can be so limited at times, not like the powerful lighting used at concerts. Well done.

I see what you are saying. I have gotten to where I hate microphones. The set up this group had there were a solid line of them across the front of the stage, probably about 5 or 6 of them so it was nearly impossible to get a shot without them in front of someone.

Yisehaq, I use no flash at all, just what ever lighting is available. I don't want to be a distraction and ruin the show for the people watching mainly. As far as lenses, I used the kit 18-55 and a low end 70-200. I am real limited gear wise but I don't mind since it makes me get a bit more creative to work with what I have.

Awesome shooting Lizardqing. Absolutely love shot #3, but #2 is a close second.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!
