Live Mannequin at Lily's Lingerie

Walked up Spring Garden Road in Halifax today and noticed that Lily's Lingerie had a live mannequin in the window. Tried sticking my polarizing filter on but that really didn't seem to help to much so I kinda missed the shot... live and learn. I'll try something different next time. Any suggestions? My first idea is to put the 70-300mm on and shoot from across the street where the angle might put more building (which is darker) in the reflection and less sky.

how about shooting at night if the 'manequins' are still there since the show window would have more illumination than the outside area.

Tried that. I went back at 4:00pm when I got off work...just a regular old boring mannequin :( You're right though, the light was much better!

I'm guessing you didn't go in the store offering Bra Fittings. Shooting from inside would be glare free. Just saying.

No, I didn't. You are right, it would have eliminated the glare but the idea was that she is a live mannequin... a different angle today produced these results.

Sometimes it's just really hard to eliminate annoying reflections even with a polarizer as it depends on where the light is coming from. Sometimes changing your angle helps but then it mucks up the comp...

She did wave at me when I was done on both days And she maintained her smile so I think she was cool. The people behind her, you can see one in the middle shot of the three above, had a nasty look on their face in one of the frames that I didn't see until I got it home.

Yeah, you work with what you have. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't I see all my images here as a failure, really, from an image point of view but they were fun and fun to share and helped me learn a little more.

Thanks for going back to try again. I like the newer shots. The model seems much better lit, so there are fewer reflections. Color of the slip is also better for the photo. Interesting experiment anyway.
