Not sure if this is the right forum for these shots. While in Medicine Hat and visiting the Medalta Potteries, we took a guided tour through the facility. One of the stops was a potter's wheel, still in use today, that produced one particula type of vessel. These whelles are outfitted with a blade, and this blade determines the shape of the vessel, not unlike a router or shaper for woodworking. The potter thoughs in the clay, and then works the balde. Not much time to set up and take images, but here it is:
