I stand erected M! I think you and JAS are dead right. Looking at the pdf (and being able to zoom in) I can see that the door is in fact behind those blinds. The blinds have been lifted to reveal the lower door.
And the legs are just well concealed and the little girl well positioned.

It totally fooled me. I saw a bad photoshop job when none existed at all.

I was so focused on the people in the image I was unaware of their surroundings MA and upon your post was about to send you a reply much the same as yours. I thought I'd been had! Your post made me realize how superficially I'd actually glanced this image. Deeper study convinced me (though I'm totally open to rebuttal 0f my concept) that my first impression was accurate. What fooled me here MA was my respect for you to usually catch small details that I consistency overlook

High praise indeed from you M! But hey ... I'm more than happy to admit when I'm wrong ... as long as I learn something

If I'm not mistaken, the fashion industry has always manipulated its images AL. Before Photoshop it was airbrushing and the like. If anything, I think photoshop has added speed to their workflow...Same tricks supercharged

Post shooting trickery has been around as long almost as photography has been around and I am fully aware if it and it will be around far longer than I will ever be. I just think that since it has been computerized so many people do it that it is more the norm than not using it and I think it is just unfortunate.

As much as I enjoy my post processing, I also love it when a photo needs nothing, or just the very, very basics, so I understand what you are saying.

I love to play in PS for the fun of it, I just do not sell of market anything that I play with in PS. I used to do all sorts of crap in the darkroom also just so I knew how to do it and the same now goes for PS. As for doing it for marketing we all should know by now they will do almost anything to con you into a sale so I expect it in marketing just not when it comes to photography in general it should be the exception opposed to the norm. It is also hard to know where the line these days for those who were not around or old enough to know what it is like to shoot where you had to get a good shot or you just lost a lot of money on film and it would be too costly to not take good photos. I try to allow for the difference in technology but I still hope there are young photographers who strive to be good photographers as opposed to good PS'ers.

I also totally agree with the point (not that you are focusing on this but ...) that too many people these days (including myself if I'm 'time poor') will accept a lesser shot knowing they can 'fix' it later in pp rather than strive for more in camera. For many of us that didn't do any darkroom processing with film, we made huge efforts to get things right in camera because once that button was pressed our control and options ended right there. The digital age has certainly changed that thinking. Being able to 'chimp' and re-shoot is greatly convenient but it begs the question of how many 'good' or 'great' photographers of today in digital would have been good or great years ago using film.

Some people like Nikon and some people like Canon while others like something else. Isn't it great that we all can make our own choice.
