oh don't even get me started on this one. I have gone on many flights into the U.S. At least 70% of the time I am randomly selected to be searched. that my last name is mine hyphenated with a middle eastern name has 'nothing to do with it.' right.
I am still trying to figure out how how someone bringing explosive devices in their underwear translates into 'no carry on luggage'. Shouldn't it be 'no underwear?'
Now it's all about needing better xray machines. I think that they would be better off with dogs. they can sort out explosive material quickly.
I am still not sure what this guy thought he was going to accomplish but I will admit to not devouring the news on this one.
soon we will all be travelling in specially provided jumpsuits as we are herded onto planes.
there MAW. I've joined you on a rant

I've already sent in my application for the Schiphol female underwear inspection unit.

The easiest answer is everyone fly naked and the airlines serve free liquor. That would prevent any fundamentalist from boarding a plane
Funny, I was talking about this very thing with a friend of mine yesterday. Ever notice that these kinds of things always seem to happen around the holiday season coincidentally during the busiest times of travel? I also looked up that the US forces caught Saddam Hussein during the Holiday season also. Interesting huh? He brought up the topic that why do people always board the flight to do these things? There are so many other ways to get into the system and do as much damage....scarier thought actually.
Fear keeps people down, in line and afraid to think for themselves and personally I think the whole thing is a little suspect.
Btw, I saw a guy on a flight to the US actually openly getting his crotch checked by an agent wearing gloves while I was waiting to head back home...couldn't believe it. I on the other hand, was not searched, had no issues with my carry-ons, had no trouble boarding my flight, moving around, and reading my magazines in peace....thank Gawd I live in Canada!
I figure it's a matter of time before we are all subjected to a strip search prior to boarding a plane to the US (arrive 8 hours early and get in line!) and then will have to sit there on the flight cuffed to our seats.
That or people will just get tired of traveling to the US and will avoid it if necessary...I'm almost there now.

It's funny...You pay all this money for your ticket to get treated like an animal Just wait till something goes down in a shopping mall, arena or what have you... Then the fun is REALLY going to start. This whole firecracker thing is smoke and mirrors in my book. Check out the small span of time it took them to link him to AQ and Yemen, that's some incredible sleuthing. With all that wonderful wizardry working for them, one wonders where they were when little Billy got on a flight to Detroit with no passport and a alleged bomb in his undies. Smoke and mirrors. I think they've been itching to destabilize Yemen for a long time to help keep Iran in check. I'd even be as bold as to say Billy and his bomb went through a special corridor at the airport where he boarded the plane! I say fire everyone who had anything to do with letting this happen (if indeed it did) from ticket agents and security right down to airport management. Next, boycott the airline, any airline that allows their plane to become infested with riffraff...Hit em in the profit margin
He wouldn't have needed a special corridor. Security at Schiphol is a joke. Numberous reporters have now publicly broken into secured sections or flew with fake bombs and stuff from Schiphol. A recent documantairy showed how a reporter could get to the Queens private airplane without any problems. Just after the failed bombing, another journalist managed to get on a Flight from Schiphol to London with a syringe in his pocket. Security is far more focussed on keeping drugs out of the country and charging import taxes than keeping terrorist from leaving the country. For us, that's the only upside to this all. At least all the terrorist are flying away from us... :P

And our answer to that is we must all be put through full body scanners at all large airports here in Canada....Good God man....What sense does that make?
ah see now that's the problem Michael. You are looking for sense in actions being driven by politicians and administrators trying to save their jobs. Sense is out of the picture. The idea is to look like they are doing something, even if it's useless and silly. If you and I were in charge it would look much better
What I resent is being treated like a potential threat every where I go when I'm a customer!
