i like them both, you can immediately determine that the owner of the logo is a photographer since it represents the 'old' leaf shutter, but i'd rather prefer if the gear-like outside line were solid to make it 'more' graphic and clean

i agree with a few others that said since it's unlikely to ever appear that large (as the samples in the OP) the one on the right, simple black and white, would stand out more- the K (I assume for Kulik) being a clever part of the aperture design might get lost a bit when the gray version is reduced in size.

On the first look I would prefer the left one too. But there will be eventually pictures, you'll need the darker one. I guess that depends sometimes on the picture?

It's a fair logo Marko. I have always been "Logo Challenged" I don't get most of them and view most as esoteric gibberish. I've even had some explained to me "The three little balls at the top represent the three years I spent in The woods finding my direction, and the line across the middle is the dividing point when I decided I was going to start a business. The three boxes at the bottom represent the three investors, the middle box is black because he passed away?" I struggle with my own logo! I just don't get logo design

I prefer the first one, more subtle and not as stark as the B&W one, just looks better to me.
