Them, "Oh, why? What are they doing?"
Me "....."
The most common question I get is not too odd. What magazine or newspaper are you shooting for. or Can I have my picture taken with the model ? *LOL*

My mistake has been seeking new landscapes. I should have been seeking new light.
That was hilarious! On a tangent, these same people will pull out their terrible cell phone pix to show me their 'great' shots,,,and they are looking for some kind of approval from me. I'm had bowel movements that were more exciting....

"You have to milk the cow quite a lot, and get plenty of milk to get a little cheese." Henri Cartier-Bresson from The Decisive Moment.
After working with someone for some time, this becomes the best situation....
Them..."Those are really nice pictures! What kind of camera are you using? Ive been wanting to get a nice camera for some time but wanted to see what really works the best."
Then two weeks later......
"I bought a new camera, check this out. The battery does not die until the memory card is completely full."
Me "This is a nice camera, you SHOULD be able to get some pretty nice shots with this."
A month later......
"Hey Jeff, these pictures haven't turned out the way I expected them too. Can you help me out?"
Me "First thing is to check the white balance. If the white balance if wrong then your colors will be off making the picture look completely different. Next, take the camera off manual mode and turn in onto Aperture Priority. Those pictures should look much better than Auto mode. From there you should be able to adjust the exposure accordingly. Really though, its best to use Manual Mode. Dialing in desired aperture, shutter speed, iso, white balance, etc. is so much easier."
"Ok, yeah I'll give it a try."
Three weeks later.....

Photography is more than just taking a picture and freezing the action, or leaving the shutter open. It is more than orchestrating the image with the stroke of a brush. Its the realization and explanation that reality is an isolated experience in which only a specific individual can comprehend during any given time period. - Your Truly!
Because of where I photograph- downtown -inner city- and because I will not hesitate to sit right on the sidewalk to get a POV I want, a lot of homeless or street people come up to me and ask me what I am doing and engaging me in lengthy conversations about what constitutes art or truth in photography. I don't really mind. Most of my subjects are quite stationary.
