The ethics are important! yes Africans would eat anything handed to them because they are starving. I have seen the homeless eating out of dumpsters with zero concern as to the origin, date produced (thrown out) or safety of their pickings. When you're starving, Your body sends only one message...EAT! It is those of us who are not starving who need to examine the methods used to produce the food to ensure its quality and safety before we too are only concerned with filling our bellies. There is no question in my mind that we can't sustain the population growth much into the future without different methods of food production but that food has to be thoroughly tested and not just rammed through places like the FDA with a nod, wink and a payout to ensure it gains approval without independent, outside the Monsanto compound testing. If we don't get a handle on this now, then down the road we may well be in the same position as the said Africans but by that time, we will no longer have a voice and Monsanto will be totally in the drivers seat with regards to all aspects of food production be it nutritionally valid, safe or fit for human consumption.
