? Huh? Do you mean for differnt computer brands you don't have to do it? We got our puter costume built but it has an INTEL sticker in the front stating its "inside" lol. I think I have to go back to school....

With Linux I never had to defrag why when I was stuck using a PC I always dual booted both Linux/Windows and since I went to a Mac they just work, not saying Mac doesn't have some quirks but they just run. It is more of an OS (operating system) issue.

Even people who don't use their PC's much should defrag a few times a year.
People who use it a lot should have a regular schedule for it depending on how often you load, delete or move stuff around on the pc.
I have to admit that having a faster defrag program (assuming it's still effective) will encourage me to defrag a bit more often. A couple of times a month should do me fine.
I am a little over the top for sure, but my system slows down noticeably if I do it only once a week. Keeping in mind I do a lot of video editing and audio production not to mention photo and design work in PS. My C:/ drive if defragged three ofr so times a week is usually 10 % fragged each time. If your sending e-mails and cruising forums only, twice a year would suffice.
