....there was no way out!
As many of you well know, we live quite far back in the bush on a gravel rd. Well, we had an unprecedented amount of rain in a very little time on Sunday which in turn created a flash-flood. We were away approx 2 hrs south of home when this all happened. We came back and had to drive through several places where water was just about coming in doors of car. We finally hit a nice high spot and left the car as we got to a spot that was just too deep, (as in 6ft), and the road was literally gone. Hiked 3+ through the bush in the dark, along with some spots of ccccccold water up over our knees, but made it home safe and sound and no more worse for wear. Following is what we woke up to the next day.
This is one of the creeks that flow into our property. This is approx 1 km from the house. so that is as far as we could drive by car/truck.
This one is approx 3.5 km from house to west, so no go with car/truck this way either. As you can see it was a very short drive if going for an evening tour.
We made it through the first one south of us with the atv's then came to this, which we also crossed very carefully. (very fast deep water)
Little further along the road was a nice trench washout.
We finally got to where the gravel met the pavement near the main rd and there was a real large washout there. (in, looking up)
Up looking down.
We parked the atv's here and walked through bush to main rd, but as you can see. Even if you could get here in a car it would have done no good.
All in all was quite a fun/adventurous last couple of days. Seems never a dull moment in our lives I tell ya'.
