This is a must see. The person with the largest Karsh collection in the world brought about 20 pieces to my camera club meeting. You don't realize how good they are until you see them up close in person. The detail was just incredible. Mind you most of his pictures were taken by a 8x10 camera, so his prints didn't have to be enlarged by a lot from the size of the negative.
He gave us the story behind every picture he brought. For example the famous one of Churchill was taken in Ottawa after Churchill spoke in front of parliiamernt. Karsh was given 3 munites to get a picture. Churchill had his famous cigar with him. Karsh walked up to Churchill and took the cigar away from him. Thus the growly look. Churchill was ticked. Apprently he came back an wanted a picture of him smiling. That picture only went to Churchill. The growling bulldog look was the one that got published.
That would be an awesome exhibit to see. Alas my piggybank says no. :-(
