One world government

You guys know me by now, and nothing has changed I'm doing a little research at the moment and need the help of some biblical scholars out there. When I was inclined to follow religion in my youth, it seems to me that I recall some sort of prophecy stating that there would be a system of one world government before the return of Christ. Of course this would apply as far as I know to the Christian doctrine. Can anyone enlighten me?
