How does your blood fare when it comes to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico? Though this is typically moronic behaviour on part of a group that just wants to grab attention and disrupt, the latter is corporate sociopathic behaviour on the grandest scale. I think we, as the public, need to put things in perspective: yes, rioting for riots sake is unacceptable, but in the scheme of things these thugs have done a miniscule amount of damage compared to the corporate rape and pillage happening every day. And that is sanctioned!

Unless it's your car or your apartment building that got torched. I can think of a number of times where exactly that has happened. No excuse for the companies. But the two sets of acts aren't the same in terms of day to day consequences. The first usually happens in the poor neighborhoods, where the people living there can afford it the least.
My blood boils at the subject of the Gulf of Mexico as well Matt. I think that is even more shameful on the part of companies and they are getting away with it and no one seems to be in any hurry to actually try to do anything about it and the powers that be are turning a blind eye and hiding their heads in the sand..
I am going to turn the question back to you and ask how your blood fare if it was your car that was parked on the side of the road or your store was damaged or vandalized in the downtown Toronto protests....would you be thinking about the Gulf of Mexico in that situation? I know I wouldn't sorry to say. It is all about perspective I think.
I do not condone gratuitous violence because I think their message gets lost in the violence and vandalism and torching cars and vandalism is too easy a way out.
There are ways to protest that are much more effective than torching police cars and breaking stuff....I believe Ghandi was a great example of that....as well Calgary's version was another example when we hosted it a few years ago. No cars were torched or damaged and the protests were fairly peaceful...I know because I was living downtown right across the street from one of the main protest parks and protest gathering areas...I never saw anything like what is happening in TO.
Btw... I also think Harper is a moron for hosting the G20 in downtown Toronto.
