"You have to milk the cow quite a lot, and get plenty of milk to get a little cheese." Henri Cartier-Bresson from The Decisive Moment.
I recently purchased a flash so I thought I would give this assignment a try. It turned out to be alot harder than I thought.

Yet you ended up with excellent results, Jason. A little more definition in the upper left quadrant where it's hard to see the difference between the ball and the background would have been good but still and very well done shot.
Thanks Iguanasan. I notice that spot now. I used two different light sources and fixed two different colors I was getting using PS elements. I think that may have made that corner a little less defined. I also noticed that the image is only 28kb now but the one I uploaded was 168kb. Does the site always compress the image?
Jason
Normally the image is only compressed if it's > 1024 pixels on one of the sides or if the image is > 275KB. Since this is 1026 pixels wide you were just a tad over. You can re-edit the post and re-upload the image if you want. Just resize down to 1024 and you should be fine.
Had the chance to make this shot come alive today with 10 month old grandbaby A. It is something I have had wanted to do since she learned to sit up. :-) AND it fits into the assignment too. The luxury fiber Little Miss A is in is Cormo. To get and idea of what the fiber feels like, think cashmere and think how soft to the touch --- Baby stays quite warm in this puddle of fiber. :-)
Very cute!
My first attempt.
