Default So who is this Grant guy and do I really care?

When confronted with a blank pixels and an obligation to introduce oneself my mind goes blank. What do people want to know?

I live in or around Lunenburg Nova Scotia, a place so pretty that you can throw a camera on the ground and get a good shot.

I do make pictures, almost daily, but seldom throw the camera to the ground. I am reasonably proficient in both photography and photoshop, and I guess that mean nothing unless you understand what my idea of proficient is. I am very kind to others images but very critical of my own. I do enjoy helping others but tend to shoot by myself. When it comes to the art of photography I am very opinionated.

If there is anything you feel I have missed please ask.

I guess I Should have added a photo to my introduction.

When asked what is my favourite photograph I always say the next one, so I guess my second favourite is my last one. I shoot every day, on averages 17.4 images the 0.4 is the hardest one to do ;-). Yesterday I was out shooting a fire drill and my wife was with me. She was more interested in the Wild Roses than my f-stops, but that is cool. After a while I suspect her mind wandered as she stood on a dune looked out to sea. She was very quiet and very still. In a flash I imagined that at many times this ritual, of staring out to sea, was probably performed by countless Maritime wives waiting “their man” to return safely.

    I exposed for the sky

I processed for the feel. Turned it to a B&W in Photoshop, added a “yellow filter” to enhance the clouds. Duplicated the layer and applied a multiply effect with a square feathered mask to create the “Burned edges”

Ernst he is a favourite of mine as well. I do believe he lives in Mabou Mines, Cape Breton and that is quite a piece from me, maybe five or six hour drive.
