I've actually been lurking for several months. I like what I see here - some of the other places I've looked at can be - unkind. I'm sometimes a bit brittle, and I don't want to deal with those kinds of threads right now.
This place, though. You're a kind and encouraging bunch.
I'm in Nampa, Idaho, which is about 25 miles west of Boise. I'm currently working with a Nikon D90 with the kit lens, thanks to my mother's determination to spend money on me and my husband last July (ask me about triage research some time).
Almost all of my photos are taken during my lunch hour, along a stretch of the Boise Greenbelt. That's when I have time, and unfortunately, that's the way it will be for the foreseeable future. But it's a nice path, with a lot of moods and a lot of wildlife. In about 6 weeks, the float season should open, and I'll add pictures of rafters and of the fire department's river rescue and dive team (hopefully they'll only be practicing).
I look forward to trading notes and photos.
