Just as an FYI, I see this morning the small majority of voters has publicphotography.org in the lead at this time.... so I took the initiative to make that name safe and now that name too is registered.

The poll closes in 2 days so please vote everyone!

After reading Greg_Nuspel's scary thread http://www.photography.ca/Forums/f15...ongs-9986.html
I think this is more important that ever that we stand up and be counted as photographers and not criminals.
One more day for your input on the poll so please vote.

Hi. I've been reading this. I've voted on the name I liked. I'll add my 2 cents once I know enough to add it! lol

But I would like to mention that my other half..well..all he does all day is logo creation and stuff. So if you need a hand on that aspect I'll volunteer him.

Keep it up..llike I said..once I know what I can add is valuable I'll jump right in.

Maybe not, but it's a start. Gotta start somewhere!

Should we move along to the next step?

I am not expecting much support here outside those who already have shown interest. I think we just move on to the next step. I also think our next step is to pick a day and I am thinking early October and it gives us time to do it properly, I love the August day and it is to bad it has taken a week to pick a name. At this rate even if things do speed up we need to give ourselves time so we are not rushed and have a lot of no shows and failed events. Events like this you do need a central group who make the decisions and all those from here at this point should be the ones deciding, because not every choice we make can be put popular vote here and give it this much time. If we decide to involve as many as we can in each decision we make it won't work and it is not how events like this are run. We need a governing body and they are the ones that need to run it and make the easy and hard choices quickly.

Need a date and logo next. If we keep putting these things to votes it will never get done, I think voting is a great way to get things passed but not like this it should be done in the same day if we stick to voting. At the rate we are going it will be next summer, lol. Most of the work will be done by the local organizers once a site, date and logo are chosen. A lot of decisions still need to be made but once all the things I listed are done we can market it and try to get others involved in other cities and towns and get more volunteers for each of the places we already have people willing to be involved.

There is a ton of work that needs to be done to get this going and lets just do it.

I agree (and I agree with your earlier post) I just thought that if we could find one of those groups and contact them we might not have to reinvent the wheel. I am okay with doing that.

Cool. Let's go! To that end, I'll disagree with October only because it can start getting cold in some areas and I'd rather do it on a nice day

September 25th is likely to be a beautiful Saturday, or does it need to be a weekday? That's 3 full months to get things organized. Is that enough time? If there are no dissenters then September 25th it is. This would make it the 4th Saturday in September - an annual event.

We need someone to manage the web site. I cannot commit to that. Any takers? Preferably someone who already knows how to run a website. Marko?
