A painter takes their vision and makes it a reality. A photographer takes reality and makes it their vision.
I have posted the idea on the Foothills Camera Club website in Calgary, their internal message board/forum thing. Tonight is the annual banquet of the club, and maybe I will corner the president and have him endorse this as well.
There are some pretty good shooters in the club, and we even have our own resident street photographer.

This is great, I think by Monday we will have some idea of those wanting to be involved. Since Henri is considered by many to be the founder of modern photojournalism it is appropriate for this as the first time we would be holding this event. I will host a website to promote this event if by Monday we have enough people willing to be involved. It will take serious commitment to get the word out for it to be successful. Monday I will get a list of those who will participate and we will make a list of things that would need to be done and how to do this. I am willing to put the time in on my end to see this go and put the serious effort it will take. We can see who will take care of what at the National level and then see who will do what at a local level. Most of anything at the National level I am willing to cover if I can get help to organize the Toronto event. LETS MAKE THIS HAPPEN !!!!!!

Thanks JAS, I like the name but I do not want to cross paths with an existing project. So I think we will have to come up with another name for the project. It is too bad but if your going to do something doesn't matter what you need to brand it and it has to be unique. So we are now looking for a name that is not being used. I was planning on doing searches tomorrow on Public Exposure and I was sure it was used for something but I was hoping it was nothing related to art. So anyone can throw out a name but if you can will you can check if it is being used and for what. I would hold off on telling people the name of the project for now. We may get ahead of ourselves if we do not check out things first, I was a bit ahead of myself on this also. I went to publicexposure.com and .ca and I got dead space so I was going to see if I could register the domain over the weekend for the project and even if I could now I would have to make a choice to pass on it. This is not my decision so of others feel we should still go with public exposure we can but I am a strong believer in branding and if it is being used we need to really reconsider what name we use. It is why I wanted to wait until monday to move forward so we dot all the i's and cross all the t's before throwing it out there so not to confuse the issue. Public exposure is a great name, and had the feel I liked so let me know what you think on it, should we come up with another name or should we go with public exposure still?

A few other ideas I have for titles:
Focus on Exposure 2010 -no name used when googled
Focal Exposure 2010 - ditto
Exposure Priority 2010 -ditto
Anybody else?
We can also change the spelling of Public Exposure too.
LoL...I am also wondering if we should nix the idea of using the word "shoot-in" as well. People (especially those in authority) might get the wrong idea of what our intent is.

I agree, why don't we do this Publik Exposure? I like the name and I think it works, so the idea of changing the spelling of public exposure to maybe publik exposure could work. It does stand out, misspelled words for branding is a good idea we could even go a bit further for the name spelling change. So what do others think?
Even Better Publik Xposure?

Ok I have given this thought and I think the best way to keep the name and not have it look horrid is Public Xposure. I think we can do something with just getting rid of the e from exposure and keep the same impact the name gives for our purposes. Let me know. It is available and will not confuse our cause with any other art related projects. Let me know, I know its late so Saturday I will check back and if everyone agrees we can run with it.
