Sigma 50mm 1.4 Release date??????

I am really curious to know when this lens was going to be released and have heard nothing and can find nothing online, so I took it upon myself to ask Sigma. I am impressed they got back to me as fast as they did, it does not give me a date but gives some very rough idea when they may announce its release date. Oh well not a lot but better than nothing almost lol. Vistek and two other camera shops gave me a ship date of about 8 weeks which I now know they have no idea when they are getting and wish they would just tell me that then pretend they know.

Unfortunately the only information that is currently available is on our
website, www.sigmaphoto.com

There is currently no expected date and unfortunately I really cannot give
an estimate to the release date or price as the only information we were
given is on the site.

If I had to guess I don't think it would be out even in the summer, we may
have more of an idea of when, then.

Hey at least they got back to you....

Other camera/lens companies promise a release date and then live up to it.
One camera store put out an ad based on the promise that the Sigma lens would be released by that day, only to learn that it did not happen.

If Sigma is not careful, some stores will be reluctant to handle their products.

I doubt that, Sigma makes them money and is a very popular lens, if the companies that promised release dates and failed to deliver and people stop dealing with those companies there would none left. Apple, Microsoft, Canon, etc. have all done it, not like Sigma is unique in this way. And I was just impressed they got back to me.
