    Default Portraits To Go

On New Year's Eve, I will be doing little portraits of the members as they arrive and printing them on the spot. It will be mostly couples and will be similar to what happens when you are on a cruise.

I have the software to tether my camera to the computer and will have live view. The photos are save directly to the hard drive from where I can print them off right away. I will be printing 5X7. I will be shooting in jpeg and there is no time for any editing.

I will have my camera on a tripod and an SB600 on a 7ft lightstand with shoot through umbrella and a SB900 also on a lightstand with reflective umbrella (Black on the outside/ silvery inside).

Got extra battery for the camera, fresh batteries in the flashes.

I am a bit nervous as this is the first serious type photography I have done.

    Any further advice?

Test the setup first if you haven't already

Get the eyes sharp ... punters will overlook everything else if you get that right

I did a dry run at home already, everything is working fine and will be doing a test of the set up tomorrow at the Club, where I will be able to snag some 'light models'.

Don't get nervous. Most people who aren't into photography are very easy to please. I've seen people very happy with some very ugly *ssed shots just because their child was on there. And with all the work you've put in there, they are going to love your shots, eventhough you might think you could do a little better. Nobody else will notice. You'll do fine!
Listen, three eyes, don't you try to outweird me, I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal.

Default Quick hands and empty glasses

Raiven: I hope you make time to enjoy yourself, deep breath every once in a while. The only tip I have is don't try and catch any tumbling porty ladies and peoples' photo requests will multiply and become more creative as thier glasses become lighter. Don't be affraid to say no politely and having an assistant around to run interference to deal with little distractions can be the greatest of help. Have fun, look sharp and enjoy the party...Happy New Year from Canada's Right Coast.

If possible....bring a second camera. Borrow one if need be.

The setup sounds good and you've already tested it should be good to go

Well that was alot of work but fun! The pictures were not perfect but nice enough considering we took photos of 60 + couples plus group shots and printed them all off. All taken in jpeg so very little to no editing.

Most were pleased and it was a nice memento.

One of the staff came and posed for me before the festivities started while I was setting up.

Well Raiven ... if they are all that quality I can see why people were so happy!! Great focus, clarity, texture and lighting! Love it!
