Makes it a little more personal in my mind.
    Is that okay?
Sounds good to me. Now how do you pick one

    Ha ha..thought everyone!

I'll make a new thread as soon as we agree on a theme

My two cents is I don't think restricting it to a singular theme will work that easily. I agree on the best/favourite image idea. But I also think that the recipient should have some choice (especially if they do end up framing it and hanging it on a wall) so we might also condsider creating a shortlist of favourite images that the recipient chooses from? I'm really thinking I'd hate to force my choice on another who may have completely different taste.

I'm also wondering for all you peeps who have nice printers at home and hahnemule paper and all that fancy stuff. What about a guy like me who lives out of town and only printer within a 10 mile radius is walmart. How much would a good 8x10 cost me at a print shop on good paper in town? I wouldn't want to shortchange my recipient with a print from a kodak kiosk really.

My 8x10 at a great printer store costs around $8.

oh that's excellent then! That's probably on standard photo paper though, as opposed to premium/professional/archival paper?

Archival they use. Only for their enlargements though.

And I've compared 8x10 from walmart and this store..and the difference is unbelievable. I never print anything good at walmart.

    Darn English!
Wait – help me understand. I missed this thread so far and now I have to ask:

Do I understand it right: Photo swapping means – exchanging photos with someone, whose name I’ve drawn? Where does we draw the names from? And we’ll do it via snail-mail, right?

Then the question about the pictures size: 8 x 10 means “cm”? I can’t believe it costs 8 dollars(?) at wallmart? 8? Does the price includes a frame? (What about printing it by ourselfs at home?)

And the picuture’s theme we’ll get from the poll.

    That’s it?

Okay. We'll designate a person to draw the names of who recieves from who and with that you'll know who to send your photo too.

I think we agreed snail mail but I'm a little confused on the census as well.

The 8x10 we were just talking about is in inches and that cost is what I pay for it at a nice printing place. I'm not to sure what that average cost would be. No to frames a) too expensive to start shipping all that b) people all have their preferences on frames

The theme from the poll. and more info as we get it organized.

INPUT is great you guys..make it run smoothly!

OOPS I was typing (slowly- kept getting interrupted by my work calls) at same time as Kat and others so you can ignore this post, but I'll leave it unedited anyway

    so what's next then?

we can use a poll thread (or continue here) to decide things like how to select the image to be printed and how big it should be printed. But I imagine 8x10/8x11/A4 is pretty much a slam dunk. And we can just keep it simple and say sender's choice from his best of 2009? or leave it to each pair to decide between them?

then maybe we start a new thread where everyone interested opts in by Nov 30th or whatever deadline and then one of us (she who started this thread perhaps?) puts names in a hat and draws pairs, posts results, and then each pair exchanges address info etc by PM or email? Any North America/Europe/Oz exchanges might not happen by xmas, but close.

Then one last thread where anyone can ask a question as this goes forward like how to package or can I use a Sharpie to sign the print etc.

Well can have a list of all the names and then have a draw. This could be done anywhere by any volunteer. Maybe some people who live close together could organized the draw and beer session.
